A LESSON IN LOVE

01 November 2006

Bagpipes play mournful renditions of "Amazing Grace," they line the streets at the South Side Irish Parade.  Rarely are they the instrument of choice for a strolling musician at a romantic, candlelit dinner.  But for Kitty Kirk and Dave McKee, bagpipes helped start a love story that is still going strong 40 years later.  READ MORE HERE.

15 September 2005

Joseph Kerzich, a student of the band - was gracious enough to provide video of the band stepping off at the Lemont Keepataw parade a few weekends ago...  The video can be viewed by clicking here.  This parade was a first for our newest bass drummer as well.  A "hi-di-ho" welcome to the to Thomas Costello.  Tom comes to us from Chicago's Southside and you should see him toss a caber...

Drum Major Don "Stixx" Gribbon

30 May 2004

While competing at the Alma Highland Festival this weekend the band was delivered terrible news; our beloved friend and Drum Major Don "Stixx" Gribbon lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).  The band would like to extend our condolences and continued support to the family and friends of Don.

Real People Video

31 March 2004

Back in 1982 NBC's REAL PEOPLE came out to Dave McKee's home and filmed a wonderful story on the traditions of Stock Yard Kilty Band.  See if you can recognize Dave Jr, Matt McKee and members of other bagpipe bands in the Mid-West (it all started with the yards).  Check out the video in our "media" section.
